LIVIGNO, AN ENCHANTING VALLEY

Livigno has an unusual geographical position, distant from urban centres , and being stuck between the Northern and Southern Alps in a secluded position, the town has managed to preserve its environmental characteristics - natural, cultural and architectural that make Livigno a unique town. It also makes up part of both the Swiss National Park and the Stelvio National Park, the largest of their kind in Europe.
The town stretches 12kms down one major road along which you can see the typical Livigno house, the "bait", made of stone and wood and where time seems to have stopped in its tracks as old mountain traditions are kept very much alive.
Livigno's tourism has flourished, whilst protecting its cultural heritage and environment, investing in the building of paths, cycle paths, mountain bike tracks and ski lifts (60 thousand million lire in the last 5 years), cross country and downhill pistes and winter pathways to ensure that everyone of all ages can make the best of these surroundings.
